I have been warned repeatedly how hard crepes would be to make. I have never made them before, and attempted them last night for dinner. I have to say, it was WAY easier than I would have thought. The only problem is that our stove top grates in our apartment are slanted and it is so frustrating! It's tricky to get things cooked evenly as everything slides to one end of every pan. So it took like 2 tries before I figured out how to manipulate it. I thought they were delicious though.
John had his first lacrosse practice this past Saturday. It was fun to go watch although the kids were not having so much fun. It was out at
Trask (a middle school) field, and there was nothing there besides the bleachers. It's not exactly close to our house so we weren't sure whether we'd go or stay. Also we didn't want to just leave John on his first practice so we decided to stay. Yeah I don't think we'll do that ever again.
Our ward switched to 11am today and it felt very strange being at church so late. I brought the kids lunch that they ate in nursery, and they did pretty good. I snapped some photos right before church.
The other day I was getting some meat out of the freezer to
de thaw for dinner. It was a
london broil so imagine this big block of solid frozen meat. Well I don't know what happened but next thing I know I watched as the meat fell out of my hands and straight onto my foot. Now I've dropped plenty on my feet before, and I am constantly jamming my toes against the wall on accident. I guess there's a problem with my depth perception. Anyways, this was the worst pain! I could not believe how much it hurt. It's like the breath was knocked out of me and I had to hold on to the counter until it sort of passed. Honestly, I never get bruises. Ever. I don't know why, I'm not bragging, I just don't. Which kind of stinks because when I get injured, I have nothing to show for it. Well on my foot there is a nice purplish blue mark that darkens everyday. *sigh* poor me. And then to top it all off I was pushing
Kael in the cart at the store and he was holding on to this heavy plastic toy guitar . He decided he lost interest and just dropped it. Guess where it landed? Right on my foot. I probably looked really silly just looking really grim, limping my way to the front with tears in my eyes. Poor
Kael kept saying, "Sorry mommy! Sorry mommy!"
Andre and I saw "The Help" yesterday. It was the best movie I have seen in a long time. I didn't know it would be such a tear
jerker but I was like a leaky faucet in that movie. It was so good though, way better than all this other crummy stuff that keeps coming out.
John started back to school, he starts drivers ed this next week, and he is just starting lacrosse. Ava will start one day a week preschool soon, and we will see how it goes. She got a new
backpack in the mail, and she adores it. She wears it everywhere, even to bed. The other day I took a peek in there to see what she was hiding. I found: new batteries we had just bought and were looking for, shower curtain rings I have been looking for, one of
Kael's special toys, a fruit by the foot (which she KNEW was off limits), and my engagement ring that I have been looking for for two weeks. What a little
klepto.
Signing off, more to come soon.
